How Final Fantasy X-2 Sent Me Down My Career Path

A few days ago marked the 14th anniversary of the release of Final Fantasy X-2 in the US and it got me thinking back to those days. I have to admit that I wasn’t a big fan of Final Fantasy X-2 when it came out and I played it, but I came to realize that before its release it played a big part in how I ended up in my profession (I work with cinematics/cutscenes in the game industry).

Got Gacha in Mobile Games (KH Unchained / Union X)

In the recent video games related news, there are a lot of mentions of loot boxes or loot crates from games like Star Wars Battlefront II, Need for Speed Payback and Call of Duty WWII, but I will leave those games and their problems for another time. Those kind of micro transactions have existed in mobile games for quite some time, but for a bit different purpose. I want to use Kingdom Hearts Unchained / Union X as an example of how much impact these transactions have on a localized mobile game.

Call of Duty WWII: Explosive Show of Insensitivity?

I am not an FPS fan, nor have I ever been a fan of the Call of Duty series.  I hold nothing against it, but it seems that in their goal to bring the sensitive issues of war, Nazis, and Jim Crow America to light became an insensitive and irresponsible design of historical revisionism and inadvertent abuse towards black people.
