The Legend of Music: A look at the role of music and the Zelda Series (A Prelude)

Any fan of the Legend of Zelda series can tell you the role of music features just as much importance as Link, Zelda, and Gannon themselves.

In September 2017 I had the absolute pleasure to see the Symphony of the Goddesses concert in San Francisco. It was a spectacle; a full orchestra and choir performing a five movement symphony and other selected pieces all synced to gameplay visuals. If you have the chance to go, I highly recommend it!

But more than the sights and sounds, it also included messages from creator Miyamoto Shigeru and series composer Kondo Koji to discuss the passions and drives behind each movement such as the brave spirit displayed in Wind Waker to the dark emotions of Twilight Princess. So, I wanted to bring you a series of discussions on music and the story it tells across the Zelda Universe.  Next time, let’s take a look at the magic of the Wind Fish.
